Your morning update on futures prop firm rule changes, refreshed overnight.
We track the published rules and policies of 32 futures prop firms and keep every version, so when a firm edits a rule we have the before and after in writing. Most of what changes is really nothing: a fixed typo, a clarified sentence, a word added here and there. But real changes stand out fast, and you can literally watch rules and policies tighten line by line. Payout terms creep, consistency thresholds drop, and prices quietly climb. It works the other way too: sometimes payouts improve and rules loosen, and when that happens it’s usually one of our Premier firms.
Most of the tightening shows up on the Unlisted side, firms we track but haven’t listed on PickAPropFirm.com. When a firm with a rough reputation starts gaining traction on rock-bottom prices, promoted by affiliates who would scam their own grandma for a commission, the discount usually costs you somewhere else, and that somewhere shows up here. If a plan looks too good to be true, it almost always is.
Starred changes are the ones we think deserve your attention; the full feed below is everything we caught, right down to the typo fixes.
Treat this page like your morning paper. It updates overnight, so grab your coffee and see what changed. – Jmu (@jmutrades)
We split that step out and call it the Buffer Zone. It is where you build the balance that carries into your Sim Funded account, and it is deliberately gentler than the evaluation you just passed: a smaller target and no daily loss limit.
Account size | Profit target | Drawdown | Consistency | Largest single day
And if you fail it, you reset the Buffer Zone on its own. Your evaluation still stands — you never go back to the beginning. Resets are $250 each for the first three, then $300 for resets four to six, $350 for seven to nine, and so on. If your Buffer Zone had already passed into Sim Funded, a reset is $500. These are the Propel Buffer Zone reset prices.
Phase 3 — Sim Funded
Your account is still simulated, but the profits are real and you can withdraw them. There is no profit target here — the job is to keep trading well.
Payouts can be requested daily, Monday to Friday, on any balance above your starting balance. Requests made before 11am ET are processed the same trading day. While Sim Funded, stop trading for the day once you are $5,000 up and for the week once you are $10,000 up — passing $10,000 in total profit triggers a review for Live Brokerage, where the caps come off entirely.
Nothing is charged during this phase. Your subscription ended at the evaluation.
How the consistency rule works
The consistency rule keeps your biggest day in proportion to the rest of your trading. We compare your largest single profitable day against the sum of your profitable days. Losing days are left out of the calculation entirely — many firms divide by your net profit instead, which shrinks the number you are measured against and makes the rule harder to satisfy.
Here is a week counted both ways. Say you made $1,000 on Monday, $900 on Tuesday, lost $600 on Wednesday, then made $900 on Thursday and $600 on Friday:
- At BluSky we add up your profitable days: $1,000 + $900 + $900 + $600 = $3,400. Your biggest day of $1,000 is 29.4% of that — inside the 34% rule. ✅
- Counting net profit instead subtracts the losing day: $3,400 − $600 = $2,800. The same $1,000 day is now 35.7% — outside the same rule. ❌
The 300K works to a 21% rule instead, so the same week would need your profit spread across more days to comply.
Being out of consistency does not fail your account. It is checked when you request a payout or try to pass a phase, and you fix it by trading on — every additional profitable day grows the total you are measured against and brings your percentage down.
Resetting a Propel evaluation
Most traders do not pass first time. A reset clears the days traded, the balance and the rules by creating a fresh evaluation account, so you can try again without buying a new plan.

Both options share the same risk logic. Option 1 uses the trailing drawdown. Option 2 uses the end-of-day drawdown together with a daily loss limit and has no scaling plan.
On both options the drawdown follows the balance upward and then stops for good once it reaches the starting balance plus $100. From that point it is a fixed floor and no longer moves.
On Option 2 the daily loss limit stays active for the whole life of the account and is never lifted. The $25,000 Option 2 account is the exception: it has no daily loss limit.

Trades are executed based on real market quotes and data sourced from the exchanges. As on any platform, you may experience execution delays and slippage, which can be positive or negative.
Commissions
In line with market standards, simulated commissions apply to trades. The applicable commissions are shown on the platform.
Risk enforcement
The platform monitors your risk rules in real time and automatically liquidates positions if a rule is breached. FTMO receives this data to update your progress in the Client Area, which refreshes at the end of each trading day (after 4:10 p.m. ET).

PremierFTMO Futures · How does the payment for the Evaluation work? Is it one-time fee or a subscription?updatedFuturesChanged promotional messaging from path to Sim-Funded Account to trading with up to 3 funded accounts and profit retention terms.Sep 8
How does the payment for the Evaluation work? Is it one-time fee or a subscription?
FTMO Futures is based on a recurring monthly subscription, not a one-time fee. You are charged when you purchase the Evaluation and on the same date each month (your billing anniversary), as long as your subscription remains active. The subscription gives you access to your Evaluation account, the trading platform, and the included market data.
Once the Trading Objectives of the Evaluation are evaluated as passed, the subscription is cancelled, and no additional payments are charged. This means you won’t be charged for the Sim-Funded Account or Live Funded Account.
There is no activation fee, and there are no hidden fees beyond the subscription.
More information about the pricing can be found in our pricing table or on our Trading Objectives and Rules page, in the Fee section.

After you become an FTMO Trader, you trade on a Sim-Funded Account. This is an account with simulated funds, but with quotes based on the real market directly from regulated exchanges. You never actually trade on live markets at this stage – yet you are eligible for real monetary Payouts based on your results.
A small number of top-performing traders may later be moved to a Live Funded Account, which is a real-money account, where futures trading is done with actual capital. Please note that progression to a Live Funded Account is solely at FTMO’s discretion.

PremierFTMO Futures · What are the Trading Objectives, and what happens if I violate them?updatedFuturesCall-to-action changed from account path messaging to funded account quantity; profit retention rate added at 90%.Sep 8
- Hard violation: If you breach a hard risk rule, the platform automatically closes all your open positions, and the account is considered failed, and you lose the account.
After a hard violation on an Evaluation account, you have two options to continue:
- Purchase an Account Reset, which resets your account values, so you can start the Evaluation again under the same subscription at a reduced fee compared to the standard subscription payment. You can find more about the reset fee on the Trading Objectives and Rules page, in the Fees section. There is no limit on the number of resets you can purchase.
- Keep your subscription active. On your next renewal, we automatically issue a fresh Evaluation account.
You cannot reset a Sim-Funded Account. A hard violation there means you lose the account, and if you wish to continue, you have to purchase a new Evaluation.

PremierFTMO Futures · Which instruments can I trade and what strategies am I allowed to use?updatedFuturesArticle heading changed from "Start your path to your Sim-Funded Account" to "Trade with up to 3 funded accounts" and profit retention rate added as 90%.Sep 8
Which instruments can I trade and what strategies am I allowed to use?
With FTMO Futures, you can access a simulated trading environment and trade futures contracts (including Micro and Mini contracts) on instruments from the major CME Group exchanges. The full list of available instruments is published in this FAQ and shown on your trading platform.
Your trading style is up to you. As long as your trading is legitimate and in line with proper risk management, conforms to the real market conditions, and does not constitute Forbidden Trading Practices, we have no reasons for limiting or restricting your trading strategy, whether it’s discretionary trading, algorithmic trading or EAs. When trading, keep in mind that your trading style should be replicable on live accounts to generate the same results as on your Evaluation or Sim-Funded Account. We do not require you to use a Stop-loss, although it’s generally advisable to always have certain safety measures in place. You can also view the available instruments via the attached link.
If you intend to use trading robots (Expert Advisors – EAs), keep in mind that if you use a third-party EA, other traders may already be using the same EA and therefore the same strategy. By using a third-party EA, you risk being denied the Sim-Funded Account, since no copy trading across registrations is allowed and FTMO requires you to use a unique strategy. Also, please keep in mind that the platform’s servers have an API limit on the number of orders per predefined time period.
Please beware of practices that have nothing in common with serious trading. If we identify such practice, we reserve our right to take the necessary action to mitigate risk. This might vary from removing the conflicting positions, rebalancing the account, or terminating the account completely and ceasing our cooperation altogether. You may refer to the Forbidden Trading Practices page for more information on what constitutes Forbidden Trading Practices. Please use our services with genuine intentions and show us your edge in the markets and consistency that you can be proud of.

PremierFTMO Futures · What is 'Trading according to a real market'?updatedFuturesReplaced "Start your path to your Sim-Funded Account" with "Trade with up to 3 funded accounts" and changed profit retention details.Sep 8
Trading must be legitimate, and traders must not use practices that they would not use if trading on a real market. A strategy is allowed as long as it does not interfere with legitimate trading, exploit the simulated environment, or constitute a Forbidden Trading Practice.
Please note that the Evaluation and Sim-Funded stages are simulated, using fictitious capital with market quotes based on the real market. We emulate the conditions of a real market and require proper risk management, because consistent, genuine trading is what may ultimately qualify you for a Live Funded Account with real capital.
We recommend that you familiarise yourself with Forbidden Trading Practices before you start.

What is 'Trading according to a real market'?
What is 'Trading according to a real market'?

PremierFTMO Futures · What is the rule about trading within 2% of a CME price limit?updatedFuturesHeadline changed from "Start your path to your Sim-Funded Account" to "Trade with up to 3 funded accounts" and profit retention claim added.Sep 8
What is the rule about trading within 2% of a CME price limit?
What is the rule about trading within 2% of a CME price limit?
A CME price limit is the maximum price range a futures contract can move within a trading day. When the limit is hit, the exchange may halt trading, expand the limit, or stop trading for the rest of the trading day, depending on the product. FTMO adds a 2% safety buffer before this limit, restricting traders from opening new positions on the affected instrument.
For example, for most equity index futures, the first CME limit is 7%, measured from the previous day’s settlement price. In this case, once the price moves more than 5% from the previous day’s settlement price, traders are not allowed to open new positions on the affected symbol.
The trader is solely responsible for monitoring the current price limits, which CME publishes and updates after each trading day on its official Price Limits page. If the rule is violated, FTMO has the right to terminate the trading account.

FTMO Futures does not allow positions to be held over the market close.
All positions must be closed, and all resting orders (including stop-loss orders, limit orders, and bracket orders) must be cancelled before 4:10 p.m. ET or the relevant market close, whichever is sooner, on each trading day.
Positions or orders remaining open at session close will be automatically liquidated and/or cancelled by the Trading Platform; however, traders should not rely on this function.

PremierFTMO Futures · How do the Growth and Pro products differ?updatedFuturesRemoved "path to Sim-Funded Account" messaging and added funded accounts count and profit retention percentage details.Sep 8
Both products use an End of Day (EOD) Trailing Max Drawdown and a 90/10 Payout Ratio at the Sim-Funded Account stage; the main differences are described below in the informative summary. To familiarise yourself with the full payout conditions and trading rules, see the Trading Objectives and Rules page.
Growth
The lower-priced option compared to the Pro Evaluation of the same size. It has no Daily Loss Limit during the Evaluation and a soft Daily Loss Limit on the Sim-Funded Account, so a daily breach does not automatically end the account. In each payout cycle, you can request a payout of up to 50% of the available profit in your Sim-Funded Account. The remaining profit stays in the account.
Pro
Built for experienced, disciplined traders. It uses a tighter, more demanding rule set with a hard Daily Loss Limit, in exchange for a better Profit Target-to-Max Drawdown ratio, higher payout caps, and full payout withdrawal in a single cycle. In each payout cycle, you can request a payout of up to 100% of the available profit in your Sim-Funded Account.

PremierFTMO Futures · How long does it take to become an FTMO Trader?updatedFuturesSection heading changed from "Start your path to your Sim-Funded Account" to "Trade with up to 3 funded accounts"; profit split changed to 90%.Sep 8
You simply need to reach your Profit Target and meet the applicable requirements without breaching your Max Drawdown or your Daily Loss Limit. The results of the Trading Objectives are confirmed after the end of the most recent trading day (after market close).
Considering the Consistency Rule, the minimum time to pass the Evaluation is:
- 3 trading days for Growth Evaluation
- 2 trading days for Pro Evaluation
Once all Trading Objectives are met and your trades have been reviewed, you complete FTMO Identity (KYC verification) and sign the FTMO Futures Sim-Funded Account Terms & Conditions, after which your Sim-Funded Account is provided, and you become an FTMO Trader. Because FTMO Futures runs on a monthly subscription, you can remain on Evaluation at your own pace for as long as your subscription remains active.

To assess these abilities, we offer two products, Growth Evaluation and Pro Evaluation, through which we evaluate trading performance and risk management on simulated futures accounts.
Becoming an FTMO Trader
After successfully completing the Evaluation, a trader may progress to a Sim-Funded Account and become an FTMO Trader, where they can earn real monetary payouts based on their results when trading in a simulated environment. A small number of top-performing traders may later progress to a Live Funded Account with real capital as an FTMO Live Funded Trader. However, this step is solely based on FTMO’s individual assessment. Across both products, the Payout Ratio is 90/10 for the FTMO Trader.
Client Area and support
In your Client Area, you can access your performance data and account metrics. We also offer 24/7 customer support for any questions about our rules, platforms, or any FTMO-related topics.
