What It Is
This only applies to PRO+ Development accounts. The cooldown is a simple rule which keeps TPT’s live capital in PRO+ Development tied to sustainable trading and reasonable risk management.
Over any rolling 30-day window, we track a trader's net loss of TPT’s live capital across their PRO+ Development accounts. If that total loss reaches $10,000, a “cooldown” is initiated and new purchases are paused for 30 days. Every account the trader already owns keeps trading normally and the wallet stays fully withdrawable.
That's the whole rule. The rest of this article explains how "net loss of TPT capital" is calculated because it only counts TPT’s money, not the trader’s.
How The Net Loss Is Calculated
The cooldown does not track how many accounts a trader closes. It only tracks TPT's money. Every PRO+ Development account starts with a balance funded by TPT and the only thing that matters is whether the account finishes above or below that starting line. An account can close, even after a losing streak, without adding a dollar to the cooldown total.
What counts towards the $10,000
- Only losses that go below an account's starting balance. That portion is TPT’s live capital loss.
What does not count towards the $10,000
- Any profit a trader built in an account and then gave back. If an account starts at $0, grows to $2,000, and later closes at $0, TPT's capital was never touched. That's $0 toward the cooldown.
- Trader profit that is withdrawn. Paying a trader is not a loss.
- Purchases. Fees for tests, resets, and activations have nothing to do with this number in either direction.
What credits back against the $10,000
- TPT's share of live payouts. Live payouts split 90/10, so for example, when a trader withdraws $10,000 from a PRO+ Development account, the trader keeps $9,000 and TPT's $1,000 share reduces that trader's 30-day total by $1,000.
Put simply: A trader gets closer to hitting the cooldown limit only when TPT's capital is actually lost and gets further away from hitting the cooldown limit when the trader withdraws profit.
Why We Do It This Way
We want traders in PRO+ Development to treat our live capital the same way they would treat their own. And the cleanest way to encourage that is to measure it the way they would measure their own: what was actually lost, net of what was actually made.
A rule that counted every closed account would penalize a trader who built real profit and had one bad day. A rule that only looked at losses would ignore the wins. Measuring net loss does neither. Trade well and the total takes care of itself. After 30 days, purchasing can reopen following a standard review from our risk team.
Note: This only applies to live capital losses associated with PRO+ Development accounts.
Additional Questions
When does cooldown get calculated?
Your Cooldown amount updates in two situations:
-
When you withdraw funds: TPT’s 10% share of the payout is credit against your Cooldown amount, moving you further away from Cooldown.
-
When a PRO+ Development account is breached: The account’s ending balance is applied to your Cooldown amount, moving you closer to Cooldown.
Note: If an account is breached, we use the account’s actual ending balance, not its maximum loss limit. So if a volatile move causes the live account to close beyond the drawdown limit, the full ending balance is used.
What happens when a trader is in cooldown?
When in cooldown, a trader is unable to purchase new subscriptions, test resets, PRO resets, and cannot receive a PRO+ standard account. They can still trade any active test, PRO, or PRO+ account and can activate passed tests into PRO+ Development accounts.
A Cooldown example:
Starting balance: $0
Day 1: Lost $200 → EOD account balance -$200
Day 2: Profit $500 → EOD account balance +$300
Day 3: Lost $2500 → Drawdown breached → EOD Account balance -$2200 → $2200 counts towards the cooldown threshold
