Choose the Right Gateway
For the best experience, always connect to the Rithmic gateway closest to your physical location. This reduces:
- Data latency
- Order delays
- Chart lag
- Disconnects
If you are unsure which gateway to use, selecting the Chicago server is a reliable default.
Data Agreements
Before accessing market data, you must accept the required Rithmic agreements, including:
- CME data agreement
- Non-Professional certification
- Exchange terms of use
These are mandatory to enable real-time data.
Use the Onyx Desktop App (Recommended)
For improved performance and stability, we strongly recommend using the Onyx Desktop Application.
Compared to running in a browser, the desktop app provides:
- No browser-related throttling
- More stable data handling
- GPU-accelerated chart rendering
- Dedicated system resources
This results in smoother charts and more consistent execution, especially during high-volume market conditions.
Performance Tips
To minimize latency and improve execution quality:
Connection
- Use a wired (Ethernet) connection instead of Wi-Fi
- Avoid public or unstable networks
- Stay close to your router if Wi-Fi is required
System
- Use a modern computer with sufficient RAM and processing power
- Keep your system and drivers up to date
Environment
- Close unnecessary apps and browser tabs
- Avoid running streaming services or downloads while trading
Browser (if applicable)
- Use an updated browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge)
- Try incognito/private mode to avoid extension interference
