Breaches and Next Steps

Understand a failed evaluation, identify the final constraint, preserve the account record, and decide what to do next.
What a failed status means
An evaluation changes to Failed when a rule breach or authorized account
decision ends it. The account can no longer place trades, but it remains in
the account switcher and history so you can review the result.
The dashboard's Pass Progress card identifies the final failed constraint when
that information is available. Common constraints include:
- maximum daily loss;
- maximum drawdown;
- the 30-Day Inactivity Rule (evaluation accounts) or the 7-Day Inactivity
Rule (funded accounts);
- evaluation time limit (historical accounts only);
- consistency;
- profit target or another plan-specific pass condition.
Inactivity rules
Every account must record an executed trade at least once within its
inactivity window. The window is measured in calendar days, not trading days,
and applies to every account model and size:
Account stage | Window | Outcome when the window passes
Evaluation | 30 consecutive calendar days | The evaluation is marked Failed with the reason 30-Day Inactivity Rule.
Funded | 7 consecutive calendar days | The funded account is closed with the reason 7-Day Inactivity Rule.
The window starts at account creation or activation if you have never traded.
If your account has a later scheduled activation date, time before that date
does not count toward inactivity. An executed trade after activation restarts
the window from that trade's timestamp. A trade before scheduled activation
does not move the start earlier. Logging in, placing an order that does not
fill, or cancelling an order does not reset the window.
The rule card on the dashboard shows the remaining time and the deadline for
the selected account. When the window passes, trading is disabled, any open
positions are closed automatically as described above, and the failure
report names the inactivity rule.
Competition products with no evaluation rules are not subject to the
inactivity rules.
Review the account before acting
1. Select the failed account in the account switcher.
2. Read the Pass Progress summary and final constraint.
3. Review the rule card, equity chart, closed trades, and order history around
the decision.
4. Compare the result with the terms attached to that exact account.
Open positions, marked equity, fills, fees, and funding can affect the account
state. Use the recorded account data rather than reconstructing the outcome
from one order alone.
When an account ends, any remaining open positions are closed automatically.
Closes use top-of-book
bounded between the reference and the maximum slippage cap (see
How market orders fill), and
it appears in the order history as a close-out with the account's taker fee
for that market's asset category, including the reduced
Elite rate on NAS100, SP500, Gold, and WTI Oil. The source
venue and venue ticker format do not change the fee rate.
Written breach explanation
The failure report stays expanded on the dashboard while the failed account
is selected. It cannot be dismissed.
A rule-triggered failure automatically queues a written explanation. When
available, it uses the balances, equity, loss anchors, rule settings, and open
positions recorded at failure, together with recent fills, fees, funding,
payouts, and equity history. It distinguishes the triggering breach from the
automatic position close-out that follows.
The explanation summarizes the available evidence. Older records and exact
position prices at the decision may be unavailable, and a long history may
only be included in part. Missing evidence cannot establish which position
caused a loss. Historical failures may have less detail. If the explanation
cannot be generated, the recorded breach details remain available.
Newly generated explanations display dates in your latest recorded login time
zone, with UTC as the fallback if no valid time zone is available. This only
changes how dates are presented: trading rules keep their Eastern-time day
boundaries.
Dollar amounts of \$1 or more display with two decimal places. Smaller nonzero
amounts display with up to four significant digits. For example:
Recorded amount | Displayed amount
\$9,950.750418 | \$9,950.75
\$0.748425 | \$0.7484
\$0.0000748425 | \$0.00007484
Percentages display with at most two decimal places. Display rounding does not
change the recorded rule decision.
Start again
Regular funding evaluations do not have a self-service balance reset. To make
a new attempt, open the
challenge selector, review the
currently offered terms, and purchase a new challenge.
The new challenge is a separate account. It does not erase or reactivate the
failed account.
Competition products can have different reset rules. A competition reset does
not apply to a standard funding evaluation.
When to contact support
Contact support if the dashboard does not identify the expected account, if a
recorded fill or account value appears incorrect, or if the displayed failed
constraint conflicts with the account's terms.
Include the account number, approximate time, market, order identifier when
available, and a concise description. Do not send passwords, payment-card
details, identity documents, or private keys.
